An American archaeologist in Egypt discovers papyrus scrolls that clearly establish women priests existed in early Christianity. The archaeologist, a feminist, smuggles the scrolls to California, pursued by the Egyptians and the Vatican, the latter fearful of losing male dominance. She is saved from death by a handsome priest with whom she has a romance.
