Summary:
When the patriarch Clark Davis is injured, his family is faced with much hardship as they work to prevent the loss of the crops. Nineteen-year-old daughter Missie, a schoolteacher, has two suitors pursuing her. Thomas is a handsome railroad man and Nate is a mysterious stranger who has been taking care of Clark as well as the farm. But Nate's true identity links Clark to his old friend Zeke, who harbors a dark secret that may change everything.
