Summary:
An American naval officer falls in love with a Japanese geisha girl known as Butterfly and goes through a ceremony of marriage with her. He then goes back to America while Butterfly waits for his return, with their child. Pinkerton returns with his new American wife and learns that he has a son. The grief-stricken Butterfly kills herself.
