"Children will have the opportunity to become a part of the exciting adventure as they experience firsthand packing a sack with essentials for their journey to a new homestead in a new land. Children will learn to make a tin lantern; study the culture of the native peoples; make some settler foods and have a feast; investigate settler children's chores, toys, games and pastimes; create an artifact museum and compare life then and now. Teachers are provided with background information, source materials and resources."
