The work includes 'The argument', a bound essay (36 unnumbered pages : illustrations ; 29 x 39 cm) with a section of notes on the plates, and 'The plates', a portfolio of 25 unbound color plates. Accompanied by a folded black and white poster, "Every letterform drawn for Character traits by Russell Maret." "Character Traits was designed and printed by Russell Maret. The Plates were printed on a Brand New etching press manufactured by Conrad Machine Co; The Argument on a Vandercook Universal III and an FAG Control 405. The text is set in Pisolino and Sans Pisolino, both of which were designed by Russell Maret. The text and plate papers were made specially for the book by Travis Becker at Twinrocker Handmade Paper. The suminagashi paper used on the standard edition binding was made by Tadao Fukuda ... Nancy Loeber assisted in the printing and production. Amy Borezo designed and executed the binding at Shelter Bookworks ... Eighty-three copies have been made. The standard edition consists of sixty numbered copies, of which five are proofs; the deluxe of twenty-three copies numbered with Roman numerals, of which three are proofs ...
