Welcome to nineteenth-century Paris and the world of Degas's dancers. Small but spirited Sylvie is a pupil at the prestigious Paris Opera Ballet, where tutus must always be starched and pointe shoes fresh. Sylvie's hopes are pinned on becoming a prima ballerina until war breaks out. Suddenly, Sylvie's life is thrown into turmoil and tragedy that feel very far from the beauty of the stage. Sylvie must draw upon the strength that ballet gives her if she is to survive and realize her dreams.
