Summary:
Sandip Ray's Chekhovian drama focuses on the interactions between a group of family and friends who go away for a week's retreat - to an old colonial British house which would not look out of place in Hampstead but instead it is in an isolated region of the Himalayan foothills. In this cooler landscape far away from bustling Kolkata the friends slowly relax, partake in witty conversation and match-making, bathed in warm memories and liberal tolerance. All seems idyllic until a natural disaster strikes leaving them cut off from the world. Observed in close focus Ray incitefully explores the inter-relationships of these characters as the veneer of civilisation burns off, exposing raw emotions of survival and panic, but through this torment there is an opportunity for personal realisation and perhaps salvation.
