Summary:
Amber (Darnell), a village maid, is left alone to bear the child of Bruce Carlton (Wilde), a gallant adventurer whom she loves. Determined to win him by gaining stature and title, the calculating Amber has an affair with a captain (Langan), marries a wealthy earl (Haydn) and even becomes mistress to the King (Sanders).
