In 1921, Julia Longfield's father dies suddenly and sends the family into poverty. Not happy with her reduced circumstances, her fianceĢ quickly leaves her as well. Julia must use her determination and skills to find a way to support her mother and siblings while making a new life for herself. She forms a business partnership with Simon Layzell, but when the Wall Street crash of 1929 arrives, will she and Simon surmount the resulting 1930s recession?
