Summary:
The inhabitants of the town of Bodoloi, on the Barbagia mountains, observe the laws of nature more than they are interested in the judgment of men. Here Basilia Pistichinzu, "a female accustomed to doing many things at once", marries Venanziu Serathula, but her love, a desire for music, kisses and freedom, is too great for that narrow valley. Six daughters are born from their union: when they discover the secret kept in their mother's heart, the storm is unleashed over the whole district. While the festivities in the square mark a time that never ends, the six Serathula sisters go towards the mystery of their mother Basilia, who will unite them in an intimate and implacable pact.
