Summary:
This program is designed to help library staff, trustees and community discussion leaders plan a discussion of the 2007 All Iowa Reads selection, "The Splendid Solution : Jonas Salk and the Conquest of Polio" by Jeffrey Kluger. The 2007 All Iowa Reads program will be doing something new in collecting stories from Iowans on what they remember of the impact of polio on people they knew and the advent of the polio vaccine. Information is provided on how the stories will be gathered. Dale Ross and Susan Craig discuss topics and themes from the book. There is also a discussion about the use of the book with students.
